Truth and Love: 2 and 3 John

16 and 23 November

Which one should we treasure more, truth or love? They seem in conflict with each other. In our 21st century world of “you do you”, should we stand up for the truth of the gospel even if it means being “unloving”? Or should we express Jesus’ love and go quiet on some truth? These 2 short letters contend for both. “Grace, mercy and peace… will be with us in truth and love” (2 John 3). We’ll find a noble woman whose children are “walking in the truth” (2 John 4). And we’ll meet Gaius, famous for his love (3 John 6). In this short 2-week series, we’ll encounter real people, real followers of Jesus, real issues of sticking to the truth and living out Jesus’ love.

    The Enduring Word of God

This Sunday we celebrate the enduring legacy of St Mark’s faithful ministry in the south-east of Melbourne.

Ormond Anglican began as a church plant from St Marks, today Michael helps us to reflect on 1 Peter 1:22-2:10 and what will truly endure in this world. Now, while reflecting on the 175 years of the legacy of St Mark’s, we are encouraged to consider how the enduring word of God will continue in the weeks, years and decades to come.
