Ormond Traineeships
The need is urgent. Across Greater Melbourne, millions of people are not regularly connected to a church community, and around the world billions still have little or no access to the gospel. The opportunity before us is immense—and so is the need for faithful, gospel-hearted workers.
-
Many churches are under-resourced, pastors are in short supply, and new suburbs continue to grow without a strong Christian presence. The call to raise and equip leaders for gospel ministry has never been more important.
At Ormond Anglican, we are committed to the call of Jesus to make disciples of all nations. Our vision is to be a growing community discovering, following, and sharing Jesus —and that vision includes intentionally identifying, shaping, and sending leaders who will serve Christ with wisdom, courage, and conviction.
Ormond Traineeships are one way we invest in that vision. In each generation, God raises up leaders to teach his Word, care for his people, and proclaim Christ. We count it a privilege to play our part in encouraging and equipping the next generation for ministry and mission.

An Ormond Traineeship is a rich, hands-on ministry training experience designed to help you discern your gifts, deepen your character, and grow in confidence as you serve God’s kingdom.
Over two years, either full-time or part-time, trainees combine practical ministry experience with intentional supervision and formal theological training. Ministry responsibilities are shaped around each trainee’s gifts and context, with guidance from local trainers and theological input through Ridley College.
The goal is not simply to build skills, but to help trainees prayerfully discern how God may be calling them to serve—whether in vocational gospel ministry, cross-cultural mission, lay leadership, or other forms of long-term Christian service.
By investing in trainees today, we are praying for faithful leaders tomorrow.
-
Supporters play a vital role in shaping the next generation of Christian leaders. Through prayer and financial partnership, you can help provide the encouragement, stability, and formation that trainees need as they grow in ministry.
Each trainee raises approximately $40,000 per year for a full-time traineeship, with part-time costs adjusted accordingly. These funds help cover living and training expenses so trainees can devote focused time to ministry, learning, and spiritual growth.
Support for trainees is administered through MTS (Ministry Training Strategy), whose scholarship pathway allows eligible donations to be tax deductible and provides the framework for ministry apprenticeship support.

Could God be calling you to serve him with your whole life? If you are exploring vocational gospel ministry or have been encouraged to consider ministry training, we would love to speak with you about becoming an Ormond Trainee.

Lord of the harvest,
In every generation you call ministers of the gospel.
We pray that in your kindness,
you would use Ormond Traineeships to equip men and women
to preach the gospel,
to care for your people
and to show forth the fruit of the Spirit in their lives,
that Christ may be proclaimed
and disciples made among all nations;
in the name of Jesus our Saviour,
Amen
