Jesus in the Storm - Wissam Nasrallah | Matthew 14:22–33

In this sermon, we explore the familiar story of Jesus walking on the water, but from a fresh perspective. The disciples are not caught in the storm because they disobeyed Jesus. They are in the storm because they obeyed Him.

As the wind and waves batter the boat, Jesus comes to His disciples in the darkness, revealing not only His power over creation but also His presence in the midst of suffering. Peter steps out in faith, begins to sink, and discovers that his hope rests not in the strength of his faith, but in the strength of the Savior who holds him.

This message asks:

What do we do when obedience leads us into difficulty rather than away from it?

You'll be encouraged to:

  • Trust that Jesus has not abandoned you in the storm

  • See that faithfulness does not guarantee an easy path

  • Discover that Christ's grip on us is stronger than our grip on Him

The Christian hope is not that storms will never come, but that the One who walks on the waves, died on the cross, and rose again will never leave us in them.
